Process and method
After Ms. Sha announced this group assignment, I was paired with my course mate, Cindy for completing the group webpage product. At first, we typed all the codes which are given by lecturer in notepad and viewed the output. After that, we kept changing and adding different html codes that we have learnt from previous labs and some tutorial websites until we obtained our ideal output.
Creating a blog
Prior to the creating of our webpage, we signed up an account on blogger.com in order to make a hyperlink on our webpage. I have no habit of blogging, so, this was my first time to create a blog. However, I did not meet any difficulties during the creating process. Blogger.com is definitely user-friendly which is quite suitable for new blogger.
Technologies and tools
Basically, the tools that I learned and used during this assignment were notepad, Mozilla Firefox web browser, bravehost.com which is a free web hosting site and blogger.com.
Besides, we also used html color codes chart (www.html-color-codes.info) to change the color of fonts. This chart is very convenient for user as the user just click the color that they want and the code of the color will be come out directly on the bottom of the chart.
When we were searching html color code on Google, we found two useful html tutorial websites which were w3schools.com and echoecho.com. Both of these two websites provide a mass of knowledge about html codes and the clear tutorial of how to use those different codes. The greatest strength of w3schools.com is the offering of an effective learning tool which is html editor. The function of editor is the user can edit the example html coding in each tutorial and get the output directly. The user not only can know the function of certain html code from the description, but also can practise by using editor and see how it works.
Besides, echoecho.com also was another reference of tutorial. It provides more information among html coding tutorial websites. Basically, the advance knowledge that I gained from echoecho.com were strikes a line through the text, how to fill in background color or insert background image, how to use image as hyperlink, no underline on text link and change color on text link.
Debugging html codes in getting the output
The first thing we did for this webpage product is to type all the codes which are given by lecturer in notepad. After we have done it, we tried to send it to our hotmail in order to make sure all the codes can be function. Unfortunately, the image can not be show and we did not realize what the problem was. After we found out the solution from our friend, we correct the error which was the incomplete URL and the image was showed successfully. After that, we inserted four tables in order to put all the photos into those tables as it looked neater compare with placed those photos wherever without tables.
Choosing web hosting server and uploading the file
Actually we have no much knowledge about web hosting server, especially free web server. As a result, we referred to the assignment instruction and choose bravehost.com to upload our webpage product because Ms. Sha also created the IT quiz 1 on bravehost.com. Basically, the process of uploading the file went smoothly. For me, those steps were easy to operate as the website provides clearly selected buttons on every webpage. However, it does not mean that bravehost.com is also user -friendly for other people because most of my friends were confused when they were trying to upload their files.
Conclusion
Before attending IT class, I just knew that Microsoft Front Page is the only way to create a website. Now, I just realized that we also can write the html coding in the notepad to create a website.
If I am going to work on this assignment again, I will improve my webpage design and make it more attractive. I will make a moving image which is something like the moving UCSI logo that I saw in http://kelvinkkw2289.bravehost.com. However, I have no idea about it. So, I need to find out what is the coding of this output.
At last, I found learning html coding is interesting and I wish I can learn more practical technique and knowledge from this subject. Besides, this is my first time using blog to write assignment report. I felt comfortable during the whole writing progress, just like write my own diary.
